here to heal podcast, episode 3: moving through discomfort toward joy + liberation with bianca gragg, lcswa
Today I am talking with Bianca Gragg, LCSWA (she/her). Bianca is a community member and revolutionary mother in Asheville NC. Born and raised in the border city of El Paso Texas, Bianca has ancestral roots in Mexico, Germany, and Spain and identifies as part of the Latinx community.
Bianca is deeply invested in supporting the healing of others in community as well as her own healing—-recognizing their interconnection. She most recently served as a school based therapist and has co-developed a local initiative that is aiming to disrupt systemic bias and racism in our local school systems, Colorful Pages Coalition (formerly the Colorful Pages Project, as she discusses in this podcast). This initiative addresses racial equity issues in schools by bringing books that feature children of color written by authors of color for our youth to see themselves positively portrayed and amplified.
Bianca shares her healing journey, how she has found strength through recognizing the value of our own self-work and how it ripples out into our community and into the world. She also encourages everyone to educate themselves on racial equality, have the hard conversations and be willing to make mistakes.
Bianca is currently raising multi racial and ethnic children with her supportive husband in the Appalachian mountains.
